It Works Shake

I never really thought I could enjoy drinking shakes… maybe it was just the shakes and smoothies I had tried weren’t very tasty.

Now, I start every morning with this delicious chocolate shake!

Besides tasting like a dessert (Give me all the chocolate!), it keeps me full until lunch and it gives my body protein and nutrients I need to reach my goals.

Slow cooker Balsamic Raspberry Chicken

Slow Cooker Balsamic Raspberry Chicken

This Slow Cooker Balsamic Raspberry Chicken recipe is full of French flavors that are delicate yet so flavorful. The raspberries add a mild sweetness to pair with the tangy balsamic vinegar. Together with tender chicken, these flavored were perfect tossed with spaghetti squash.

I’m not sure why this recipe would not get out of my head… it kept nagging at me “make me, make me, make me.” So I thought about the different flavors I was looking for. I really wanted raspberries and chicken together. I love a raspberry vinaigrette dressing on a simple chicken salad. My mind kept going to onions as well. read more

DIY Make-Up Brush Cleaner

I’m not someone who wears make-up every day… most days you will find me with my hair in a pony-tail and just a little mascara. When I do wear make-up I LOVE using brushes!! I use them for my concealer, powders, even applying my favorite primer. I must admit that I didn’t know how I was supposed to clean my brushes at all!

When I started thinking about my brushes and keeping them clean… I started thinking about all the things that can live in them:

  • Old make-up
  • Dirt & debris
  • Bacteria
  • Oils
  • Dead skin cells

Eeewwwwww, YUCK!!!!

Okay, we HAVE to clean these brushes!!! But, there is no reason to run to harsh chemicals to clean them, I have my favorite all natural recipe that is super duper easy for keeping your brushes clean of all that yuck. read more

Make At Home Insect Repellent

I LOVE SUMMERTIME!

Extra time with out of town family, swimming, biking, and lighting bugs, what’s not to like?!?!

Mosquitoes, that’s what!

Adam (and Aidalyn to a degree) have really bad reactions to insect bites and stings. It really can be an issue during the summer when you want to be having picnics, playing outside and having fun! Because the quickest way to ruin a picnic or fireworks is BUGS!!

So I went hunting for a simple and naturally based insect repellent that I could feel GOOD about having around my kids. read more

Low Carb Broccoli Tuna Casserole Bake

Low Carb Broccoli Tuna Casserole Bake

This Low Carb Broccoli Tuna Casserole Bake is a special request for my dad. He loves tuna casseroles and is really trying to eat healthier these days along with our whole family. I made a similar recipe for Thanksgiving that was just a broccoli casserole. This adds in some great protein from the tuna (or salmon) to get good Omega-3 fatty acids into your diet.

I love broccoli. I love it in casseroles, in stir-fries, and as a simple side dish. Broccoli is so healthy for your too, full of vitamins and minerals. read more

Healthy Chicken a la King

Healthy Chicken a la King

I had a reader ask for a request recipe makeover: Chicken a la King. I felt up to the challenge to make this dish healthy. So I pulled out my Roshto Family Cookbook and found our family recipe.

Chicken a la King Family recipe

It looked fairly simple overall. I did some digging online and looked at Food Network’s recipe and Allrecipes. Every Chicken a la King recipe I found was different.

The key ingredients seemed to be chicken, mushrooms, onions in a creamy seasoned sauce. Some recipes served with pasta while others served with biscuits. read more
