I am now in Richmond! This has been a long time coming, but it has finally happened.
I think the talk about moving somewhere outside of Louisiana started when Adam and I were getting married. We needed to stay in Louisiana for my tuition, so we figured we would only live here until I graduated.
Then, I started grad school in Louisiana…
Then we were part of a church plant in Louisiana…
God had his plan for us and it was apparent that we were supposed to stay in Louisiana longer than we had originally thought.
Since, accepting the job with Honeywell in Virginia, we have had more confirmations that it was time for us to move. God had planted that seed a long time ago and we just had to wait for his perfect timing.
Wait for it… Wait for it… GO!
We packed the car.
We got in the car.
We drove…
3 days and 17 hours later in the car, we arrived.
Thankfully we did stop for 2 nights along the way and visited Ruby Falls in Chattanooga for fun, so it wasn’t all driving.
The trip wasn’t bad at all! Aidalyn did great – Honestly a WHOLE lot better than I expected.
Now that we are in Richmond, we are getting settled in pretty well. We are very lucky and have temporary housing provided for us by Adam’s new company while we wait to find a house and move. It is going to be a little more crowded while my parents visit, but it is perfect!
I’ve already been introduced to Richmond’s indigenous wildlife. It honestly looked like a cross between a centipede and a cricket… I am not usually scared of bugs, but I was really hoping it would disappear under the cup I put over it so I wouldn’t have to deal with it…EVER!
Louisianians would be very pleased to see that the local Walmart has Tony’s – so no need to ship it to us here. We will have to order CC’s coffee on Amazon though.
We went to Journey Christian Church on Sunday and really enjoyed it. They have an amazing children’s ministry. Starting with the babies they do music, crafts, and story time. I can’t wait to see all that Aidalyn picks up from their classes. They are very big about partnering with the parents, so I know what she did so that I can reinforce it during the week.
We really enjoyed the new shopping area we found last night. We went to Short
Pump about 30 minutes from where we will end up living. We took my mom to the Cheesecake Factory and walked around the outside shopping mall. We saw Wholefoods and Trader Joes. Along with a Mimi’s Cafe (my favorite places to eat in Little Rock). And drum roll please, H & M!!! Any place we have ever wanted to eat at or shop, we have here – It is going to be so much fun!
