Pregnancy is such a wonderful, joyous time.

You are growing a human being inside you, what could be more special?

Then you go to your 27 weeks appointment and they tell you that you have gestational diabetes…

For me this came at such a shock the first time. I was very small when I got pregnant, probably below 120 pounds. I wasn’t gaining excessive weight during pregnancy. I was working out almost every day (waking up at 5 am and going to the gym). I ate very healthy (whole foods primarily).

I love Chinese take out… I love Chinese food!

These do not make me a Trim Healthy Mama…

But thankfully my favorite part of Chinese food is the vegetables.

Here is my take on a Better than Take out – or Take out-Fake out Chinese Stir fry.

Annaleigh’s 5 month Update!

She loves: Her sister. Snuggles with mom and dad. โ€œWay up high in the Apple treeโ€ song. Sitting in her swing.

Whatโ€™s new: Sitting in Bumbo chair and ExerSaucer. Grabbing toys and bringing to mouth โ€“ uhoh teething on the way???

Dislikes: Long car rides. Being overtired. Mommy walking out of the room.

Working on: Rolling over more effectively. Sleeping in bed for longer periods (5-7 hours).

What we love: Her smiles and laughs.

Adam and I have started implementing the Trim Healthy Mama way of eating. You can learn more about the diet here at Gwen’s nest.

It is basically a low glycemic diet that separates the two fuel sources carbs and fats. By keeping these separated, you can enjoy all the food groups and still lose weight.

My sister and her husband are also following this plan and effortlessly seeing clothes fit looser and enjoying the new foods.
