5 Ways to Start Using Essential Oils Today

You may have just recently heard of essential oils or maybe you have been interested in them for a while and didn’t know where to start. I know for me, I started reading about essential oils about 10 years ago… but I didn’t really know how to use them or even when I should be using them.

I was already pretty “crunchy” and avoided using chemicals in my house as much as possible, but there was another level of concern when you have a baby crawling around on the floors and putting everything in their mouths. That’s when I realized that I could actually start cleaning with essential oils. read more

10 Facts about Body Wraps

Almost two years ago, I tried my first Body Wrap and It was LOVE at first wrap. When I tried it, I could tell that this was going to quickly be one of my favorite products ever. In minutes I could feel my skin tingle and I knew it was working on my most stubborn area – my stomach!

Now, I have hundreds of customers and friends who share my love for wraps. I’m getting asked questions all the time about them, so I put together my list that may answer some of your questions.

1. It’s NOT water-weight loss. There isn’t one single ingredient in our wrap that would cause water weight loss.

2. It’s botanically infused cloth is designed to tighten, tone and firm any area on the body from the neck down where you want to see some instant toning results.

3. They reduce the appearance of cellulite.

5. One wrap is a “sample” but 4 is a full treatment. Just like someone wouldn’t go get ONE session of hair removal, go tanning ONE time or use ONE crest white strip, Wraps need to be used as a full treatment for best results.  Although people typically see results from ONE, don’t stop there.

6. Drink the recommend amount of water during the 72 hours your wrap is working in your body. Your results will also be progressive over that time frame.

7. Take Pictures…. If you aren’t willing to take a picture than you may as well not wrap! Because you’re not going to be able to compare and see the difference!! My first wrap I didn’t realize the results I had just looking in the mirror… and when I compared the 2 photos, my jaw dropped!!

8. Wraps are NOT meant for lazy people to throw a skinny wrap on and skip a healthy lifestyle. They are designed to go hand in hand with a healthy lifestyle – hence the reason we have an entire supplement line! But think how amazing it would be to throw a wrap on on days you’re feeling discouraged and haven’t seen results in a while. You get that instant result and Suddenly you’re motivated again!! This is my favorite reason to wrap!!

9. Wraps will tighten loose skin from weight loss and pregnancy. I am NOT a scientist and don’t even understand how on earth you can stick a wrap on and see these results, but I’ve seen them with my own eyes all day every day for almost 2 years!

10. Results last an average of 2-6 months with a healthy lifestyle. read more

Why Do you Love Trim Healthy Mama? Real Mom Answers

I love Trim Healthy Mama for me and my family, but I wanted to share that I’m not the only one who loves this plan. I interviewed my sister (who is also a whole food eater) to see why she loves Trim Healthy Mama.

She is the mother to 4: 3 boys and 1 girl; Ages 11 – 3. She is a work from home mom. She has her doctorate in Accounting and teaches online courses. Her husband is currently in medical school about to start residency later this year. Here is why she loves Trim Healthy Mama.

What are the reasons you love Trim Healthy Mama?

In a quick response:

I love that it Encourages you to enjoy the foods God gave us.

Encourages a mindset of fueling the body.

Focuses on nourishing the body and being healthy not just being skinny.

Empowering.

Flexible.

Family-Friendly.

Budget Friendly.

Life Friendly.

Not overly restrictive.

How have you changed how you eat since starting Trim Healthy Mama?

I would say I’m eating lower carb. I can identify with Whole Grain Jane from the book; I was eating mostly homemade, natural foods, but looking back, getting too many carbs in the form of honey, fruit, natural sugars, grains, etc.

Definitely more focused now on trying not to combine fuel sources (fats and carbs). I think about what the ingredients are in foods. I know how to pair foods now to make a meal either Satisfying or Energizing. That is a change since reading THM.

How do you cook for your kids on Trim Healthy Mama? Do you cook differently for them or the same?

Well, I don’t feel like I’ve changed much. We already ate at home (my cooking). I already used butter, coconut oil, etc. I do tend to cook a side just for them – rice, sweet potatoes, something easy. My husband and I just choose not to eat it (if it doesn’t fit in with a satisfying/s/high fat, low carb meal). And I have modified my recipes some to fit the plan.

Sometimes I give the kids cheese or something when I serve energizing (E/low fat meals, moderate carb) meals. Always something easy.

What are your go to snacks right now?

My favorite snack if I only have a minute is a light cheese stick and a slice of deli turkey. I’ll make it into a roll up. If I have a little longer, I’ll make a brownie in a mug or a hot chocolate or a shake. I also like celery sticks with cheese or peanut butter. I also really like boiled eggs if I’m okay with a satisfying snack. I like the cocoa almonds and trail mix. I also like the cottage berry whip and the cottage cheese and cocoa whip (recipe in the book).

How to you save money on Trim Healthy Mama?

I don’t think I’m saving more money eating Trim Healthy Mama, probably about the same that I was spending before though. I try to shop frugal, scout out deals, shop online, etc.

Is your pH making you Fat?

Is Your body’s pH making You Fat?

Most people learned about pH in school. The difference between acids and bases can be shown on  Ph Test Strips (affiliate link). It was fun to discover where certain liquids would fall on the scale. What most people don’t learn is how important pH is to your health. Did you know your pH could be making if more difficult to lose weight?

The optimal pH level is between 7.2-7.4. “pH (potential of hydrogen) is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. It is measured on a scale of 0 to 14—the lower the pH the more acidic the solution, the higher the pH the more alkaline (or base) the solution. When a solution is neither acid nor alkaline it has a pH of 7 which is neutral.” (Natural Health School)

Trim Healthy Mama on a Whole Foods Diet

There is some criticism in the whole foods world about Trim Healthy Mama. I’d like to take the time to debunk the myth that Trim Healthy Mama can’t be included in a whole food’s lifestyle.

One thing I like about  Trim Healthy Mama is that it meets you where you are. In the opening,The Trim Healthy Mama book describes different types of women and how their lifestyles are compromising their waistline: from a Drive Through Sue to a Farm Fresh Tess, or a Whole Food’s purist. All these women need help in losing weight, and have different pathways to become a healthier version of themselves.

Trim Healthy Mama encourages all types of women to strive for health.

Most people in our culture need to reduce their intake a sugar and quick burning carbs that spike their blood sugar. Trim Healthy Mama has tips and recipes to help stabilize your blood sugar while keeping the food tasty and allowing for a plan you can stick to. Trim Healthy Mama also is great for revving up your metabolism at any age. Which all women want to know how to achieve this.

From a whole foods perspective, Trim Healthy Mama allows you to be as much of a purist (as Serene, one sister/author) would be or as relaxed (as Pearl, the other sister/author) would be in the kitchen. I can identify with Serene more, but have allowed myself to relax and not be a whole food Nazi when it just isn’t possible (and I don’t beat myself up about it anymore either).

I like that Trim Healthy Mama encourages people to cook recipes at home and think about what they are eating. New Trim Healthy Mams are reading ingredients and finding out there are ingredients in their favorite foods that are just not healthy.

Trim Healthy Mama is great for the average woman seeking to make a doable baby step into a healthier lifestyle. This makes it easy to share with your friends who may not be as purist as a whole foodie may be… but it is healthier than they were eating – which is great progress! There are so many truths in this book. I don’t think it is right for a purist to throw the baby out with the bath water when this book may be the first step into a whole food lifestyle for someone.
