King Cake in a Mug with Cream Cheese Topping

I may live in Richmond, Va now, but I am born and raised a Louisiana girl. On top of being raised in Louisiana, I have a birthday that falls during Mardi Gras. It became a tradition for me to have a King Cake for my birthday cake for several years until I moved last year. Then my mom, hearing my laments of not being able to get a King Cake in Richmond, mailed me a King Cake from Louisiana… Let’s just say I shared… but I didn’t.   read more

Both of these women are way more talented than I am! So, I’m so glad I’m able to show them off to all of you.

Jamie from Adorably Bow-tastic is also a great photographer. She has done all of our family pictures since moving to Richmond. You can check her photography page here. She also has such an eye for trendy fashion items for you and your family. This Reindeer bow will be the talk of all the other soccer moms when they see it on your little girl this season. You can purchase one from her store here.
Carly from Morgie Pie started sewing once she had her own little girl to play dress up with in 2010. She has grown her hobby into a great business. She can make custom order dresses and also monogram almost anything you would like! I love her monogrammed fleece headbands the most for my own gift. She can applique any idea onto shirts and add your little bug’s name to it! Send her a message on her facebook page for any orders you need this season or for all your holiday and monogramming needs.

Good luck to all of you! read more

Confessions of a Church Hunter

We just moved to Richmond, Va. Along with hunting for a house we had to also “hunt” for a new church. I know that some of you are our friends and know how involved we were at Water’s Edge, our church in Lake Charles.

Water’s Edge was one of the reasons it was very hard to leave Lake Charles. We had been on the launch team and seen it grow from about 25 people to over 1,200 people in under 5 years. It was such a special journey and we met some awesome people along the way. read more

17 hours later in a Santa Fe

I am now in Richmond! This has been a long time coming, but it has finally happened.

I think the talk about moving somewhere outside of Louisiana started when Adam and I were getting married. We needed to stay in Louisiana for my tuition, so we figured we would only live here until I graduated.

Then, I started grad school in Louisiana…

Then we were part of a church plant in Louisiana…

God had his plan for us and it was apparent that we were supposed to stay in Louisiana longer than we had originally thought. read more

Virginia, but after doing some research about the area, we fell in love!

Virginia is for lovers!

Richmond is neat because it is centrally located to several different popular areas to visit: 1.5 hours to Washington, DC, 2 hours to Virginia beach, 2 hours to the mountains. It was the capital of the Confederacy – so still the south. It snows there every year, and has 4 seasons – something I am looking forward too. read more
