The Myth of the Overnight Success

Time after time… every success story has it’s valleys.

But it is interesting that when we start our business… we start comparing our beginning to everyone else’s middle or end.

Even when we have someone start a business, and happen to become a top income earner in just a few months – they still have a beginning that we didn’t see.

Watch my video where I share more about the Myth of the Overnight Success:

I hope that this encourages you to write your own success story : )

So many times I see that comparison is the thief of joy. Enjoy the story you are writing and the journey you are on, because one today there is someone who is going to need to hear YOUR story to know that their is HOPE for them!

Here is to your success,

5 Reasons to Grow a Side Income

Three years ago, I was a stay at home mom who really needed to find a way to make some extra money from home.

We had two small kids (a 6 month old and a 3 year old) and I just wasn’t ready to go back to work, but each year our budget kept getting tighter and tighter.

Adam and I had to figure out a way to increase our income (even just $500 a month would make a huge difference!) and that’s when we realized the benefit of having a side income. Adam was working a full time job as a chemical engineer (without the ability to take on extra hours or overtime), so the side income would really need to be something I could do.

What is a side income?

I would say a side income is any way for you to make extra money in addition to your full time job (without interfering).

Think of your own situation, what benefit an extra $500 each month would make? I know it is different for everyone!

Here are my 5 Reasons to Start Earning a Side Income

1. It is always nice to have a Plan B

You can’t always predict what is going to happen at your regular job. I was a speech therapist before and my company lost our contract twice (which meant I lost my job… without notice). People talk about job security, but it really is nice to build a side income so that if you ever needed something to fall back on – you would be set!

2. Tax Deductions

Warren Buffet has been said to pay a lower tax rate than his secretary. One benefit for us picking up a side income connected to our business meant that we could deduct some of the business expenses to help lower the taxes that we paid.

3. Control

We quickly realized how little control Adam had at his full time job. He couldn’t pick up overtime. He couldn’t control when he got a raise. With our side business, we could plan out promotions and have a least a little control about how much our monthly income grew. It’s always good to know that if you put more time and effort in, you can raise your income directly!

4. Flexibility

Since I was the main operator at first for our side business, it had to be flexible since I was going to be working at home and be a stay at home mom at the same time! I was able to set my own schedule and work when the girls were asleep or napping.

5. Extra Cash

Everyone had different goals and plans they would use extra money to go for. For us there were three main reasons to earn extra income: give more to our church, pay for a Disney vacation, and buy me a new van for our growing family. I’m sure you can think of many things that extra money would help your family accomplish.

How to earn a $10,000 bonus from Home

Three years ago, I was a stay at home mom looking for a way to earn some extra money from home.

I searched for some different options, but nothing was really working out until I talked to my friend who owned her own online business. I was so curious to know how she was able to work at home with her kids beside her and earn more than I did as a full time speech therapist.

I doubted myself – Could I be successful?

I was just a stay at home mom… an introvert with no sales experience at all, but I knew deep down that I had to at least try!

9 weeks later, I had earned a $10,000 bonus (without leaving my home!!)

If I can do this, I know you can too!

Watch my video to learn more:

You have a choice! You can Go or Go Fast!

How could these bonuses help your family?

Can you be Successful when you Have no Time?

I talk with so many families (women and men) who are ready to make a change in their life – in their finances! but they “Have no Time.”

Over the past three years, I have realized that everyone is given the same 24 hours each day – it is up to you to make the most of the time you have… plus, there are some tricks to help you win even when you are busy!

Watch my video to learn if you can be successful even when you are busy:

I know that when I started my own home based business, I was a stay at home mom of a three year old and 9 month old… and because we were living 1,000 miles away from our friends and family, I had very little help. What I learned during that time was that I could get a lot done if I focused. Some may call it a power hour (you can even break it up into 15 minutes throughout the day). read more

“Just a Stay at Home Mom”

After my daughter was born, I hung up my hat as a Speech Therapist to be “Just a Stay at Home Mom” but I quickly realized it was the single most critical job I have ever had.

Sometimes when I was asked what I did… I could feel the slightest bit of inadequacy for making that decision. Not only that, but our family had to make many budget cuts for me to be at home and get all that extra time with our babies.

It wasn’t like the pay and benefits were what was keeping me at home 😛

As a stay at home mom… you get no days off… no pay… no health benefits and some of the most demanding employees lol.

Being a Stay at Home mom is the most humble career choice in the world, yet the most important.

After I had my first daughter 5 years ago, my world completely changed. I made the decision that I would be with her and that decision was greater than my previous career choice. After my second daughter was born, our finances got even tighter and we were finding we had very little wiggle room at the end of the month… What was I going to do?

I had to make the decision to get a job… or find a way to work and be home with my girls.

What happened next was that I discovered a way that I could be home with my girls and earn an extra income… with an Online, Global Business.

No longer was me being at home a strain on our family finances, we were no longer a one income family either. We finally could Dream Again!

I also realized that I could change the world… even from home. I have been able to connect and help so many people work on their goals and change their lives. What a powerful calling to be a part of something so much bigger than yourself!

If there was a step by step road-map to starting an online business, would you be willing to follow the steps to Freedom?

We have worked with hundreds of families who have made the decision to start their Online Business too… So they could start working on their dream boards and work to stay home with their kids.

We talk with parents of many different stages and their biggest regret is working too much and missing their children when they were small.

Time with our babies is so precious and they grow up in the blink of an eye. I don’t want anyone to miss that time if they have a desire to be home. I am so thankful of this opportunity that I have found not only for myself but that my husband is here with our girls every day at a Stay at Home dad.

Treating Mastitis Naturally

Treating Mastitis Naturally

Mastitis can be scary to a breastfeeding mama.

The painful and inflamed breast. The chills. The fever.

I have had full blow mastitis 3 times now! I had it both after the first few days after childbirth and now today…

What causes mastitis?

Mastitis is usually caused by a clogged milk duct that isn’t draining properly. Mastitis can come when you are not resting enough or drinking enough water – Hello, Holidays!

This time it developed from a milk bleb – a clog right on the nipple. I noticed a slightly painful white dot on my nipple about 2 weeks ago, but I thought it honestly went away… Until last night.

Last night when I went to bed, I noticed my breast was tender. I tried to compress my breast to get any milk flowing, didn’t make much progress so I just went to sleep. I had trouble getting comfortable because it was tender.

I had a lot of trouble sleeping and finally got up at 3 am. I was feeling light-headed walking to the bathroom and almost passed out when I was trying to put in my contacts. I had to wake my husband so he could help me get some meds and vitamins, plus see what my temperature was.

We have a forehead scanning thermometer and it read 102.0 and 105.0… who knows.

I had a fever!

I couldn’t sit up in bed without getting light-headed. It was already serious.Sick Mom

I immediately took 2 Tylenol gel caps (which I NEVER do!), but I kept thinking… If I can’t take care of myself, who is going to take care of my babies?

I also took garlic tablets, vitamin C, and lecithin (a fat emulsifier to help break up any fat in the clog). The vitamins are immune boosters and should help fight off any infection.

Then I nursed, expressed milk, and nursed some more.

I stayed in bed until 9:30, then felt like I was at least well enough to come downstairs.

I fixed myself a large glass of echinacea tea, also full of antioxidants and immune boosting properties. I also took probiotics and cod liver oil.

I continued taking the vitamins and nursed more often to help keep the milk moving and clear any infection.

The Keys to Treating Mastitis:

1) Catch it early!

Mastitis is an infection that can get out of control quickly. As soon as you notice a clog, be proactive about trying to get it cleared before it escalates into Mastitis.

2) Take your vitamins!

Focus on vitamins to strengthen your immune system. I took garlic, echinacea, and vitamin C. These will help you fight off the infection – or prevent one from happening if you catch it early.

3) Use hot compresses.

Hot compresses open up the ducts and pores on your breast and help you clear the clog and drain the breast more effectively. You can even take a hot shower and use the warm water to help while massaging the clog.

4) Nurse, Nurse, Nurse

Keep that milk flowing! Babies are the most effective at draining the breast. You can also use a pump to help get any extra milk out between feedings. Also, when you nurse, remember to change the baby’s position each time (or even during the feeding). I always found that nursing while hovering over the baby laying on a bed was the fastest way to clear a clog (looks funny though!).

5) Rest

Mastitis usually happens because you aren’t resting enough. You need to take a break and stay at home while you heal. Also drink plenty of water and recuperate.

I hope you never have to deal with mastitis. It is not fun to have to deal with. Thankfully with these tips, you should be able to clear it up quickly and be back to normal.

If you don’t find relief in a few hours, you may need to call your doctor.  read more

Story of a Stay at Home Mom

If a mom pours a cup of coffee,
Then the toddler will ask for eggs.
You make her eggs and cheese, but then she decides she would rather have oatmeal and pineapple.

You decide to not fight about it because eggs sound good to you… With your coffee – that is cold now. So you put it in the microwave.

Just as you sit down with your eggs and coffee, the baby wakes up and needs to be changed and fed.

You run upstairs, change baby, come back downstairs and sit to nurse. Feeling hungry and thirsty now because nursing does that…

You put the baby in Exersaucer, put on PBS for toddler.

Sigh. Your coffee is cold. Put it back in microwave along with eggs.

Sit down with hot coffee and eggs. Eat one bite.

Toddler wants her snack… You fix an almond butter sandwich… Licking your fingers for a taste of food.

Toddler wants to play a game. ‘Let’s play tea party.’ Where she will pour you a cup of imaginary… Coffee.
