5 Best Gifts: Craft Kits for Toddlers

Christmas gifts, crafts, toddlers

Christmas is almost here

and everyone is making lists for toys and gifts to get their kids. Here is a list of my pick of Craft Kits that I know would be so much fun for the little toddler in your family.

These Craft kits are also good for learning and creativity. So instead of a new toy, think about getting your toddler some art supplies or one of these all in one craft kits. I know Aidalyn loves working on crafts on a rainy day or when we are having a slow morning.

Ribbon Bows for a Rainy Day

It was a very cold, rainy day here in Virginia… Time for either cooking or crafting!

Aidalyn also took a great nap, so I caught up on The Biggest Loser and made some hair bows. I made one black polka dot one and one green polka dot one. I need to go get some more alligator clips and ribbon to make more!

This is the tutorial I used: Bow Tutorial

Refashioned Sweater into a super cute Toddler skirt

I am on a very crafty roll these days! Getting my creative juices going with some dark chocolate usually : P

I decided since I worked out 4 days this week – and I had a toddler wake me up a little earlier than normal – I was going to skip my elliptical session for the day and sew instead. I made the halter dress from the previous post and this super cute toddler skirt.

Here is the sweater I used. I actually really liked this sweater, but it ended up with some very small stains. IMG_0169

First I cut off the arms – I’m going to turn those into leggings for Aidalyn soon. read more

6 Tips for Flying with a Toddler

Adam and I took our first flight back to Louisiana from Virginia last week with Aidalyn.  We have both had the privilege to fly numerous time (including several international flights), so we consider ourselves pros at it. This time was different, though, because we were traveling with a 21 month old. Here are our 6 tips for flying with a toddler that we learned through our experience.

It is always horrible to sit next to the crying baby on the plane. However, nothing is worse than being the parents of said crying baby. We wanted to be prepared for every possible reaction.  read more

Chickpea Grainfree hotcakes

20120506-112612.jpgI made these Chickpea Hotcakes for Aidalyn last night. It was an experiment for sure! I think it is something that I can modify and come up with different recipes from.

Two things that I value: easy and a non-messy finger food for a toddler.

So here it is:

Ingredients:

1 can of chickpeas, drained (Mine were organic)

1/4 cup of milk

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

2 eggs

Optional: cinnamon, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon of honey

Directions:

I just blended everything together in my Magic Bullet and made little rounds of batter in a hot lightly oiled skillet. I flipped them once they set on one side (could see small bubbles on the edges when it was time to flip them). And they were done! read more
