Story of a Waterbirth: Happy 3rd Birthday Aidalyn!

IMG_3449_edited-1This is Aidalyn’s birth story and a 3 year update! I thought it was appropriate to share on her 3rd birthday.

This was the day I became a Mama.

Aidalyn is such a joy. She is so full of energy and and spunk. She is so stubborn and will fight you to the death that her dress is actually a shirt (or vise versa depending on her mood). I think she would be a great lawyer.

She loves My little pony and Go Diego Go! oh and don’t forget Disney Princesses!

Her favorite foods are black beans and cheese, almond butter sandwiches, and muffins. Favorite snacks are popcorn, nuts, yogurt, cheese, and fruit. read more

Annaleigh’s 5 month Update!

IMG_3940Annaleigh is 5 months old!!!

She loves: Her sister. Snuggles with mom and dad. “Way up high in the Apple tree” song. Sitting in her swing.

What’s new: Sitting in Bumbo chair and ExerSaucer. Grabbing toys and bringing to mouth – uhoh teething on the way???

Dislikes: Long car rides. Being overtired. Mommy walking out of the room.

Working on: Rolling over more effectively. Sleeping in bed for longer periods (5-7 hours).

What we love: Her smiles and laughs.

Cloud Dough Fun!

Have you heard of cloud dough?

I love it! Cloud Dough isn’t sticky like play dough and it easy to make!

Aidalyn actually made this herself.

2 cups of flour and about 1/3 cup of baby oil

– then just add your imagination.

Aidalyn insist that she is making a mermaid city! She had so much fun. My only tip… is be prepared to sweep after all the fun is over (OR go outside and don’t worry about the cloud dough mess!)

Pregnancy Update: Entering the 3rd Trimester

On Sunday, I officially entered my 3rd trimester!!!

I don’t think the second trimester was as easy as I would have hoped… I continued to be tired off and on. The nausea ended around 15 weeks, so thankfully that wasn’t an issue. I started taking Floradix iron supplements around 20 weeks or so to help with my energy – and I really could tell a difference at first. I’m continuing to take New Chapter Organics prenatals, Calcium/Magnesium supplements called Coral Legends Plus, Drenamin by Standard Process, Chromium – which is supposed to help with your ability to metabolize sugars and Fermented Cod Liver oil by Green Pastures. read more

Snow Day Flannel Headband for infant, toddler, or even an adult

We are expected to get 2-5 inches of snow today! It isn’t here yet, still just rain. It has been fun to have a “stay warm inside” day waiting on the snow to arrive.

I wanted to make Annaleigh a headband. I need to be prepared for her cuteness when she arrives. I had seen several headband tutorials, I basically just pulled a few ideas together to create the one I made. Here is the band tutorial I basically followed : band tutorial and the flower was made following this tutorial: Here read more

Ribbon Bows for a Rainy Day

It was a very cold, rainy day here in Virginia… Time for either cooking or crafting!

Aidalyn also took a great nap, so I caught up on The Biggest Loser and made some hair bows. I made one black polka dot one and one green polka dot one. I need to go get some more alligator clips and ribbon to make more!

This is the tutorial I used: Bow Tutorial

I put in those extra pictures at the end to show off Aidalyn’s funny faces : P

It looks like more rain for tomorrow too, yucky! What fun can I get into? read more

Twisted Fabric Headband

I love hair accessories on Aidalyn. It is so girly!

She has pretty fine hair, so big bows won’t stay in very well at all. I wanted to try a toddler style headband and see if it worked better.

I used 1/4 inch elastic and measured her head – it was going to be 19 inches around. I sewed the ends of the elastic together to form a ring.

Then I just followed basic directions I found online for making twisted fabric flowers: tutorial here

I then added the flowers to my band with hot glue and backed them with fleece. read more
