How To Eat Enough Protein Without Meat

I was never a huge meat eater… and it wasn’t really on purpose. I just tended to eat more carbs (even healthy ones) but I realized how important protein really was for my health and weight loss goals.

When I was pregnant, my midwife told me that I needed even more protein in my diet to help my baby grow. That’s when I started looking for ways to add protein into my diet without eating more meat.

What my video to learn how I added more protein into my diet without eating more meat:

Non Meat Protein Sources:

  • Greek Yogurt
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Quinoa
  • Beans

  • Nuts

Here are 5 Tips to lose belly fat if you want to target your results and start losing weight.

All of us carry our weight differently.

I know that for me, I tend to gain weight below my waist first… but then slowly my waistline starts expanding too.

When I was pregnant… I developed diastasis recti (a gap between the abdomen muscles), I was limited to the exercises I could do to flatten my stomach. Then, with my second pregnancy my diastsis got worse… ouch!

I was beginning to lose my self confidence. My clothes didn’t fit exactly right. I didn’t feel like myself at all. read more

My Favorite Detox Smoothie

Adam and I have been waking up two hours earlier this whole month because we have a lot of goals we want to accomplish and we are starting to implement our Miracle Morning (which really has been great for us!)

Waking up earlier with a big “To-Do” list means we want a quick and easy breakfast so that we can fill us up and give us good nutrition for the rest of the day. When I was pregnant, I used to live off of smoothies, but I got out of the habit and stopped making them for a while… until now!

I have officially fallen back in love with smoothies! Now, I like a lot of crushed ice – I really want it to be more like a Frosty lol But they are so good!! Aidalyn (my oldest daughter) calls them and frequently is requesting a  “Grown-Up Smoothie” – which is great because she is my picky eater.

What I love is that they are so super duper easy to throw together in the blender and you can add loads of super foods in there to make sure you are getting everything you need into your diet.

Now, I’m a busy mom… and there are a lot of days I don’t get in all the variety of foods I’m supposed to or even a salad at lunch and dinner and that’s why I love adding Greens to my smoothie! With just two tiny scoops, I’m adding in all the extra fruits and vegetables I need for the day for about $1!

So my recipe is super simple, but it is filled with the most amazing ingredients! Plus, I didn’t even mention my favorite protein powder.

Because I am always looking to lower my carbs, I needed a protein powder that didn’t have a lot of extra sugars and had less than one gram of sugar (only 2 net carbs!). One scoop is only 100 calories and contains superfoods, enzymes to help you digest your food, fiber to keep you full longer, high bio availability, and antioxidants.

Start making this Detox Smoothie Recipe Today:

1 cup of milk (we use coconut milk, you may need more or less depending on the consistency you like)

1 banana (fresh or frozen)

2 cups of crushed ice (you can do more or less depending on how icy you like your smoothies)

1/2 cup frozen berries

1 scoop of Shake

1 packet of Greens on the Go (Berry or Orange will work!)

Place everything in your blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!!

20 Healthy Snacks

Making healthy choices throughout your day is just as important as the meals you cook in your kitchen. Sometimes it is that afternoon craving that sets you off on a series of not so great choices.

I love meal planning and including two snack options to have in my back pocket if I’m hungrier one day or just need a little extra something to keep me going until the next meal.

I personally like to eat every 3 hours to keep my blood sugar stable (no crashes) and honestly helps me avoid that hangry feeling (hungry-angry). The best snacks for me also include some protein.

Every month, I like to do a Cleanse and during those two days, it is important to eat clean. These snacks help me stay on track and help me feel my best too!

Here are some snacks that I enjoy and hopefully will help you when you get the munchies:

  • Greek Yogurt with some chopped nuts mixed in
  • Thinly sliced Deli Meat and Cheese
  • Apple or Banana with Peanut Butter
  • Apple with sliced cheese
  • Protein Packed Smoothie
  • Cottage Cheese with fruit

10 Surprising Uses for Greek Yogurt

Have you met my friend Greek Yogurt yet? No. Well, then you are in for a treat! Greek Yogurt is one of the most versatile foods.

Greek Yogurt is strained yogurt leaving a protein packed, thick and rich dairy left. It is very different in texture than regular yogurt. It is rich and creamy… so good!

It is also healthy, because a good quality Greek yogurt will contain strains of beneficial bacteria that helps with your digestion. Since Greek yogurt has more protein than regular yogurt, it helps keep you full longer and keep blood sugar levels stable. It is also lower in lactose, so it has fewer carbs.

4 Reasons to Cut the Sugar
4 Reasons to Cut the Sugar

We are going to focus on Cutting out the Sugar!

This is not a new idea. Lots of popular diets have come to the conclusion that our sugar is out of balance in our Modern diet and this is the cause of our expanding waistbands.

Management of your Sugar and Carbohydrates is crucial for weight loss and your general health.

We know sugar is so important to get under control.

A low glycemic diet in general is healthier than a diet focused on lots of carbs. When our system gets overloaded with too many sugar and carbs, our cells start storing extra carbs as fat in our cells.

Our cells love to store carbs, so they are very eager and ready when we over eat our carbs. If we eat a moderate or low carb diet, then we can burn those carbs before they get the chance to be stored as extra fat. read more
