Essential Oil Bathtub Crayons

When a rainy day strikes, bring the fun inside with bathtub crayons. Add a little Essential Oil for play time that can be as calming or energizing as Mom wants!

The girls have really enjoyed these, and sometimes it’s nice to have something that can be messy in a controlled way!

=&0=&

• 1 bar Unscented Castile Soap (grated)

• 2 Tbs. hot water

• Natural food coloring (I like this one myself)

• Small ice cube tray, silicone mold, or cookie cutters on a baking sheet

• Small mixing bowls

• Essential Oils (Lavender, Lemon, Chill, Clear, & Eucalyptus have all worked great for me!)

How to Make:

1. Put grated soap into a medium bowl and slowly pour water onto the soap while stirring. (Note: the more water used, the longer it will take for crayons to dry)

2. Spoon equal amounts of the mixture into small bowls and add desired Essential Oils and food coloring to each bowl. Mix to consistency of a thick paste.

3. Scoop out and tightly pack into your molds.

4. Set in a warm, dry place to harden for 5-7 days or in the freezer for a few hours.

Is there anything better than clean, relaxed, and entertained kids!?

High Protein Brownies

I don’t know about you… but I have a weakness for brownies.

I mean… come on.

Warm, melt-y Chocolate… Who wouldn’t want to eat that!?!

With fall approaching, I really wanted to get in the kitchen and make some brownies for the whole family to enjoy. Because I want my girls to learn some healthy recipes and tips, I thought this would be a great recipe to try!

After a morning playing at the Children’s Museum, we could all go for a great snack. I loved that this was easy (not many ingredients) and they girls loved helping me mix in everything with my stand mixer.

You really can make a healthy brownie???

Depending on your definition of healthy, YES! Is it going to be perfect for everyone? Probably not… but it is much better than a traditional recipe.

One thing that I love about this recipe is that it uses Agave instead of sugar. Not that agave is perfect, but it has shown that it has a lower glycemic index. I struggle a little with blood sugar issues, so it is always great for me to find recipes that are lower carb. It had a great flavor that wasn’t artificial (that some people who don’t like stevia would enjoy).

Another great thing is the protein! This recipe packs in protein from the Almond butter and Profit Protein Powder.

Why is protein so important?

You should be eating some protein every 2-3 hours to help your body maintain steady blood sugar, also to give you sustained energy without crashes. This would be a great snack because it has protein plus some quick energy from the agave.

When you are shopping for a protein powder, what I always look for is the grams of sugar and carb count. My favorite protein powder is a blend of protein, mood-elevating superfoods like Matcha, and soluble and insoluble fibers to keep you full longer – and only 100 calories per serving! As a bonus, it has only 2 grams of net carbs and less than one gram of sugar (and it still tastes great!)

Now for the recipe!

    Gluten Free Banana Bread

    Gluten Free Banana Bread

by Maria Alison at Ten at the Table

I am so thrilled to have Maria as my guest today sharing her Gluten Free Banana Bread. I know that Banana Bread is just an all time favorite of mine and always a treat. I can’t wait to try this recipe out! I hope you all enjoy this great recipe that will be perfect for sharing. – Angela

I like to take the gluten free option whenever there is one. And you can hardly tell that this banana bread is gluten-free. It’s moist, insanely delicious, and has the same texture and flavor as banana bread made with wheat flour! Sometimes I like to add chocolate chips to the banana bread, like I did today, and it just takes the banana bread to another level. The chocolate chips are completely optional but I use them for the flavor and the health benefits. You could also add in some chopped nuts if you’d like.

    Gluten Free Banana Bread

There are lots of different brands of gluten free flour that can be found in most stores now. My favorite is the Bob’s Red Mill 1-to-1 Baking Flour because it gives such great results! It’s a great alternatives to those with celiac disease or anyone trying to avoid gluten anyway. Most gluten-free flour blends require xanthan gum to give your baked goods the same results as if you were to use all-purpose flour. Any gluten-free flour you have used before and trust is perfect.

This gluten-free banana bread is sensational! It’s easy to make, it’s inexpensive, and it’s got such a tender, moist crumb to it. I even prefer this banana bread to the kind made with wheat flour. It’s the best banana bread I’ve ever eaten. And the chocolate chips made it 10 times better. I will definitely be making this again and again. read more

Iced One Serving Chocolate Chip Cookie

minute cookie, one serving cookie, microwave cookie

Iced Chocolate Chip Cookie in 2 Minutes

Grain free – Sugar Free – Gluten Free

Iced One Serving Chocolate Chip Cookie {In 2 Minutes}… Miracles do happen.

I’m so glad I discovered this recipe. I really am in love with coconut flour. It is the perfect flour for making a grain free cookie. I also just started using cocoa nibs in baking. They are a wonderful substitute for filling my desire for chocolate chips. If you like dark chocolate, I think you will love these.

Who doesn’t love chocolate chip cookies? I think everyone gets that craving at night… but you don’t want to make a whole batch of cookies (and be tempted to eat them all – because none of us have ever done that *cough*).

This recipe is wonderful because it is sugar free, grain free, and gluten free. We are trying to be as gluten free as possible because we discovered last year that both Adam and I were reacting to gluten in our diets. We switched to baking with coconut and almond flour primarily and have really loved all the new recipes and options that are available.

I chose to make a chocolate icing for our cookie. It is totally optional, but we really loved it. You could also make it plain without the cocoa powder. Another option would be to mix a little cream cheese in with your Greek yogurt like in my King Cake in a Mug.

If you are a Trim Healthy Mama this one serving chocolate chip cookie is going to be a satisfying treat because it is low sugar, but high in good fats.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do!
