5 Words to Remember when you want to start a new habit

This is something I’ve been processing over the past couple of days. Are there any moms out there any moms? young moms?

We just started a new small group at our church and they labeled it “young families.” I am going to turn 35 next month, and I think he’s 37 something like that. And so we looked at each other. We’re like, “are we young families?” Does that still count? but we do have young children.

My youngest is 13 months and then I have all the way up to a nine year old.

If you are a young mom, or young at heart or have a young family you probably have seen the new Frozen II movie that just came out.

It’s becoming one of my girls new favorite movie, and we listen to the soundtrack almost every single day. So this probably why this has been stuck in my head, haha.

It’s not a bad thing to be stuck in your head, because it’s a really good life lesson for all of us. If you are in this group (click to join my Free Facebook Group), you’re thinking about making healthy choices, you are a mama who’s wanting to get healthy…. you’re sick and tired of where you’ve been the past couple of years even and you just want to start making baby steps in the right direction.

You’re just like, “Oh my gosh, I wish, I wish it was so much easier to make a new healthy habit.” “I wish it was easier to stay on track.” “I wish it was. I wish it was easier to live healthier to make healthy changes.”,

Have any of you felt that way? Have you felt frustrated and you felt stuck before? Have you felt like giving up, because it’s overwhelming and you just want to make the right decision… you just want to start being a good example for your kids… you just want to have more energy… you just want to feel better in your clothes… you know you just want to have more confidence… where does that start?

3 Simple Steps to Start a New Healthy Habit

I’m going to break it down into three simple steps for you today. If you’re feeling like you already feel frustrated and you already feel defeated. Maybe you already feel sad.

Where do you start? What do you do? How do you get back on track?

If you feel like a failure, you’re on the right track… Because that’s what every single person who ever reaches their goal does. They fall down. They feel like a failure. They’ve probably cried before because it’s hard, but they don’t stay there… they get back up.

That’s what I’m encouraging you to do today. So, we’re going to get back up today, and it starts with one.

How many of you guys can make one healthy choice today?

You know I asked yesterday “What are you proud of?” What are you proud of that you did yesterday, because that’s where it starts.

It starts with making one healthy choice.

I don’t care if you splurge, if you ate some of your kids Halloween candy that’s leftover, I don’t care about that…

I care about that one healthy choice and that’s what we’re going to celebrate.

Do the next right thing

If you’ve listened to the Frozen II soundtrack, Anna sings a song titled “The Next Right Thing.” I’m not gonna spoil the movie for you, but she was in a really dark place and she said, You know, I don’t even know why I’m getting up right now, but I know that I’m going to, I have a bigger purpose. I have a bigger goal than I’m working for. And I’m just going to do the next right thing, I can’t see the whole pathway, I can’t see the whole staircase I can’t see it all lined out, but I know if I want to get there. I’ve got to start making the right choices and start making the right steps in the direction.

And then after you do that a couple times, you’re going to wake up one day and you’re going to think, wow, look how far I’ve come, I did the right thing, you know, three months ago I started doing the right thing three months ago, and now I’m living what I was dreaming about back then.

And so today, I want you to think about what is that what’s that end goal. Where do you want to be in three months? Where do you want to be? and I want you to write this down.

I don’t want you to just think about it because a goal is a dream that’s written down. So I want you to write it down because there are studies that say it’s like 80% more likely to reach your goals if you actually write it down.

And so I want you to think about like what is your without one a month goals, maybe it’s just five pounds. I think that’s amazing!

Maybe it’s just drinking water instead of soda, that’s even more amazing!

If you just focus on one thing each month… so think about like what do you want to focus on. Do you want to focus on drinking more water? Do you want to focus on eating more healthy fats? Maybe eating less sugar less or carbs and start fueling your body with healthy fats.

So think about what is that one thing that you can do right now.

If you focus on a new goal every single month in the year, at the end of the year, you would have 12 new healthy habits habits.

Your success is found in your daily habit.

It’s what you do every single day. If you want to make changes in your life, it starts with the 1% changes.

Where is it in your day today that you’re struggling to take the next step in? Instead of getting overwhelmed and not moving at all, think “I’m gonna do next right thing.” I know the next right thing right now. That’s all you have to focus on. That next right thing.
