8 Rules of Marriage

8 Rules for Marriage: After 15 years together, we have learned a few lessons…

1. Learn new things together.

After 15 years, you can still learn new things about each other through new experiences.

Take a class, try a new sport, explore a new country!

2. Be flexible.

Things are not as black and white as you think. And plans are never set in stone – Being a parent will teach you that as well!

3. Most disappointments are due to having unmet expectations.

Go into situations with managed expectations.

This is key for holidays, birthdays, vacations  because things will never be like the movies… but they can be imperfectly perfect. read more

What I Learned During My First Year of Working From Home

Five years ago, I was a stay at home mom of my two girls and I was feeling stuck.

Maybe you have felt that way before too??

I loved being home with my girls! I had a 3 year old and a 6 month old. I just wasn’t ready to go back to work, but our budget kept getting tighter and tighter.

What could we do?

Adam had a great job but couldn’t really increase his income at work, so he was throwing around the idea of taking on another job just to give up some extra room to be able to give more to our church and save for a vacation. read more

5 Must Have Items I can’t Leave Home Without

I can’t believe it is time for our once a year conference in Florida! This will be our 4th time going, and I can’t wait to see my friends and learn from the best how to help more family get healthy and pay off debt. It has been such a blessing to partner with our company and work from home.

But before I load up my bags and head to Florida for our little paycation… I have to pack.

I’m such a procrastinator, so I have left packing to the last minute – and to make sure I don’t leave any of my must have items at home. I have made a packing list.

Here are 5 things I can’t leave home without!

Here are my must have healthy packing list:

Probiotics

Your “gut” is the foundation of your health! It is so important to make sure you give your body daily probiotics that will strengthen your immune system (when you are at home or away!) My favorite probiotics have the added prebiotics in them plus 5 different strains to make sure you stay strong all year long!

Which adds the question: Do you need Probiotics?

Berry Greens Powder

When I became a mom, it got harder and harder to make sure I was getting everything I needed each day. Over time, I felt more and more run down because I was missing vital nutrients I needed – but I didn’t know which one!?!

That’s when I found my favorite superfood greens powder (that actually tastes good!) Your body will LOVE you for it!

Learn about my favorite Super food Powder Here

Grassfed Butter Coffee

If you have been following me on Instagram or Facebook for very long at all… You know that my love for coffee runs deep. When I found an instant grassfed butter coffee, I felt like the stars aligned just to bring me this gift.

Not only does it taste like a cappuccino, it gives me that burst of energy that I need to chase after my kids each day. It helps me with my sugar cravings and keeps me full for hours. You gotta try this with me.

But first, coffee

Carb & Fat Blockers

I’m all about moderation… and when I’m on vacation – I LOVE trying new foods – but most of the time they are not the healthiest. I don’t want to bring an extra 5 pounds as my souvenir, so that’s why I always pack my Fat Fighters.

I have been using this for the past 4 years and I never leave home without them! Believe me, keep these in your purse at all times.

Everyone needs this in their purse at all times!

Natural Stress Relief Adaptogens

Stress is just a normal thing when you are a mom, right?

The kids are fighting, the oven is broken, the laundry pile is growing… and that’s when you are at home!

When we go on vacation, stress levels occur at a new level. You know if you have ever been on a road trip longer than 2 hours with your kids. But stress doesn’t have to be a daily battle anymore.

When I learned there are natural herbs called adaptogens that actually help your body cope with natural stress (and quickly too), I knew that I needed that for myself!

I believe that every mom needs this just to survive, but for sure when you are on vacation. Your kids don’t need the memory of a mommy melt down in the middle of the Magic Kingdom, haha.

My favorite natural stress relief works really fast too. They are my “Mommy Happy Pills”

I hope that your next vacation is full of fun – and that you stay healthy and strong the whole time to make lasting memories with your family.

What to Look at FIRST Reading Nutrition Labels

Have you ever been at the grocery store and spent hours reading label after label trying to figure out WHAT SHOULD I EAT!?!

It can be confusing, right?

There is so much information out there about what is healthy…

What should we even look at when reading a nutrition label?

I’m going to make it SUPER simple for you and give you the very first thing that I look at when reading labels.

This will probably eliminate a lot of foods that aren’t healthy – and save you time reading the rest of the label – haha.

P.S. One really simple idea at the grocery store is to shop the perimeter. There won’t even be nutrition labels on those foods! When I started eating healthier, that was the very first move I made.

Here is to your health!

Instant Pot White Bean Chicken Chili

BRRRR, it’s cold outside!

Soups are one of my favorite things to fix in the winter, especially because I can do them in my Instant Pot now.

Haven’t tried an Instant Pot yet? Do yourself a big favor and check out the benefits right now!

I love traditional red meaty chili, but I found myself really wanting a chicken based white chili, so after a little experimentation and recommendations here’s my current favorite!

Ingredients

Group 1

  • 4 Chicken Breast (ours were fresh)
  • 12 oz of Green Salsa
  • 64 oz of Chicken broth
  • 1 Teaspoon of Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 Teaspoons of Cumin
  • 2 Teaspoons of Oregano

Group 2

  • 2 cups of frozen Corn
  • 4 cans of Great Northern Beans
  • Juice from one Lime
  • One bunch of Cilantro chopped

Directions for Instant Pot:

1. Add first six ingredients (Group 1) to Instant pot and set on “soup” setting for 30 minutes.

2. Release pressure. Open lid. Take out chicken and shred it (I typically use my mixer on a low setting to make it quick and easy!)

3. Add last 4 ingredients (Group 2) to instant pot and heat through. Add in shredded chicken.

Enjoy!

Optional: top with Pepper Jack cheese!
